Dream Meaning #1: Pay attention to something you’ve been ignoring

Dreaming of being bitten by this wild reptile can be interpreted as a painful reminder that you need to pay attention to a situation or relationship that has been challenging or difficult to deal with in your waking life. A snake biting you in a dream symbolizes your own guidance system or unconscious trying to get your attention through a wake up call.

You’re becoming more aware about an issue or aspect of yourself that you’ve been ignoring. The snake bite has the effect of prompting a reaction on your part, whether it’s pain, surprise or fear. Often, the dreamer will wake up right after the snake bites her in the dream. The attack from the serpent can therefore point to the need to wake yourself up, in your life too, from a situation where you have been compromising too much.

A dream of a snake bite reminds you that you need to resolve or come to terms with a situation or behavior that is paralyzing your ability to make a decision or move forward. Getting bitten by this wild creature is an invitation to examine what is currently “poisonous” in your life and to remedy it.

Dream Meaning #2: Meaning of the body part that is bitten by the snake

The dream interpretation will vary depending on what part of the body is being bitten. Consider the meaning you give to the part and how it related to what is challenged or needs to change in your waking life.

For instance, a snake bite to the right hand means that you are conflicted about taking action or making the right choice in your life; it could suggest that you are preoccupied with acting in fairness or maintaining a healthy transparency in a relationship whether it is intimate or related to work.

Being bitten by a snake in the back could indicate that you need to pay attention to ill words or deceitful actions of people around you; it could also mean that you need to resolve issues from the past or concerns that you have been carrying with you for a long time.

Dream Meaning #3: You’re holding back your wild, untamed side

When you dream of a snake biting you, the animal may reflect conflictual urges or desires you have in waking life and that are hard to grasp or control. Dreaming of a snake brings to your attention, through the image of this animal, to a part of you that you or possibly others consider as “wild”, untamed, perhaps even “out of control”.

Snake Bite Dream

This inner conflict may have escaped your attention or you may have seen it looming over you, just like the animal in the dream before it strikes. The fact the snake is biting you indicates that you are in the process of becoming more conscious of what you need to do to take control of a situation or matter that has been creeping in

Dream Meaning #4: Transformation is painfully taking place in your life

The serpent is delivering the antidote to numbing yourself and avoiding what needs to be done to get to the next step in your life. The snake bite may point to a shift occurring in your awareness, a transformation: You are on the verge of becoming more aware about a matter that was previously hidden or avoided.

This radical shift may be experienced in a painful manner at first, but will be beneficial in the long run. This wake up call is part of your growth process.

Dream Meaning #5: Struggle with temptation

Dreaming of a snake biting you may represent the archetypal presence of temptation in your life. Just like the serpent in the Garden of Eden in the judeo-christian tradition, the animal in your dream could connect to a “temptation”, desire or situation you feel conflicted about because of it does not fit in your usual beliefs or ethical values.

The snake bite is a wake up call to face whatever is causing tension, perhaps even challenge some of your core beliefs or values and get a fresh perspective.

    i was with my brothers(3)
and we see a dark green snake.
we were on the bed and i tell them not to get close to it. i tell them our mother told us to stay away from venomous snakes.
the snake jumps around the room and we try to move away from it
but it lands on my brother and he holds it in his hand, while doing that the snake bites my other brother on the cheek.
i panic and tell them he has to get an anti venom…i tell them a cobra bite is very dangerous.
in the same dream i see a large, fat snake coming down a tree submerged in water and going aafter the snake mentioned above.
we just look at it. i wonder if that fat snake is going to eat the other snake…but it just goes close to the other snake and get submerged in the water.
the scene shifts and im trying to call our parents to tell about my bro being bittin by a snake, we cant get through to them
so i.take my.brother to the hospital myself
at the hospital i meet a nurse i meet a nurse going down a stairs how to get things done for a snake bite.
she tellsme to do things normally
we go down a place and i see a long line of people getting signed up to see the doctor..i ask my brother if he has any symptoms he says he has pain in the back coming to the front i tell him to wait while i go to the reception..i get a chit with a numner on it, before that i had a verbal altercation with a woman.and i go back and wait with my brother… i think that my brother should be given priority since he was bitten by a venomous snake and before i go up to the counter to tell this i woke.
i remember being all worreid throught the dream, i woke feeling scared.

I have had two dreams in the same month about being bitten by snakes. The first was is kid of fuzzy, but I remember being bitten more then once and having to restrain the snake. It was green and it wasn’t poisonus. The second dream my friend tried to catch a snake and it immediately came after me and bit my left hand, ankle and my hand again. It wouldn’t let go so I bit it and killed it. Shortly after I noticed it was a poisonous snake and began to panic.

I dreamt that a snake was knwoingly in my home when the back door was left open. It appeared once and i went to catch/kill it but it escaped. There was a time lapse and it appeared again while i was laying down on my couch… i jumped onto my coffee table throwing things at it to avoid it getting closer but it was relentless… it ended up slithering up my leg and biting my thigh and then i woke up frantically grabbing my leg trying to get the snake that of course in reality wasnt there off of me, waking and scaring my fiance in turn.
    Any thoughts?

I literally just had the dream. The snake was my”pet” rattle snake named vaxcelian. For whatever reason I was keeping him in my work lunch box. I called for him to get back into the lunchbox and then started to cautiously zip up the ouch box when he bit my right hand. The bite was as clear as day and it stung I definitely felt it. Never have I experienced anything like this before. As of lately I have been doing hypnosis and meditation very heavily. I am working at a job I’m not 100% happy about it’s truly soul crushing office work. I’m a writer and find my happy place is when I’m writing my novels but I haven’t had the time I’ve wanted to spend on them. Maybe this was some type of wake up call, I don’t know…

I had a dream that 2 different snakes at 2 different times of the dream had bitten my right ankle. They were both pretty big snakes and i had to pry them off of my ankle each time by grabbing the back of there heads and unlodging there fangs out of my ankle. One was a minty green snake and the other was an older off colored snake white and brown. There was no fear or pain. It was just. I had to pull it out of my ankle.  This is the first snake dream i ever had in my life and im 42 yrs old.

  • Dana

I dreamed that a snake was biting my dog and I rushed to intervene.  The snake bit my hand but I killed it with my bare hands.  When I picked up my dog, I noticed the snake had bitten her front leg. I had the feeling that we were both out of immediate danger and would ultimately heal from the bites.
