Conclusion: Key Points to Enhance your Dream Interpretation

Here are two key points to refine the interpretation of your dream.

Reconnect with the Snake in your Dream

The snake featured in your dream is most likely a transposed image or symbol of something that’s actually happening or preoccupying you in your daily life. It’s important to remember and recall the presence of the snake as it was in the dream.

For example, you can project yourself back in the dream, recall all sorts of details about what the snake looked like, how it was moving, how you were feeling. You could even imagine you can ask the dream snake questions about its intentions, what message it has for you, etc. This will get you started in decoding what the snake in your dream could symbolize.

Snake Dream & Call from the Unconscious

When interpreting a snake dream, a key point is to keep in mind that the serpent in your sleep means you’re symbolically receiving a wake up call from your unconscious.

Dreaming about a snake is usually an indicator that you need to pay attention to something important that you perhaps have been avoiding or that has escaped your awareness until now. Interpreting your dream will help you discover what it is and what you could do to about it.

When you’re dreaming of a snake, you can use your interpretation to encourage positive changes in your life. A snake dream can function like a two-sided coin: For each negative feeling in the dream, such as fear, apprehension, anxiety, or confusion, there’s an opportunity to realize something positive that will serve you in your waking life.

Bonus: Snake Symbols in Popular Myths and Traditions

The symbolism in a snake dream is primarily anchored in the personal life of the dreamer. Because the snake is a powerful symbol in many traditions and cultures, a snake dream can also be influenced by a wider meaning given to the snake or serpent in one’s culture.

In the Judeo-Christian tradition, the snake tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden. It is tinted with negative connotations and a symbol for temptation, evil, and sin.

In the Hindu tradition, Lord Siva wears a snake around his neck, as a representation of the control of dark forces and temptation. It also symbolizes the power of kundalini, the life force.

In ancient Greek mythology, Medusa is a Gorgon, represented as a woman with snake hair who can turn into stone whoever she looks at. According to the psycho-analytic perspective, it is a symbol for castration or repressed sexual energy.

Another popular Greek myth is about Aesclepius, Greek god of healing and medicine, who inspired rituals where snakes were used. Today, the rod of Asclepius is what we know as the Caduceus, symbol for modern medicine. In our dreams, it represents the opportunity for healing.

The feathered serpent from the Aztecs of South America is a symbol for the creator of life.

I dreamed about a lot of snAkes. I was walking with my lover but the way he wanted to go there was a venomous snake ( I felt like) and I went the opposite way and there were a tremendous amount small to large, non venomous, with my son. Well the snAke bit his pinky finger, with no aggression within the snake and he showed me his bite. The crazy thing is there were other children there playing with the snake that is why he stopped to play (weird). Everywhere I walked there were snakes and I was careful not to step on them from small to large they were embedded in the ground 🤨. Can someone help me interpret this?

I had a dream of a large White Snake in front of me, beautiful and peaceful. It raised its head to my eye level and through vibration without words introduced itself as the Devil. Vibrational frequency that I translated as…I am he, I am the Devil.

    • Epik 1

I kind of without words said Hello and introduced myself, then the white snake slowly turned away and humbly left.

I dreamt I was holding a snake by the head with my hands inside a house looking out a large bay window. I was surprised to find I was holding the snake and asked an older man that was in the room what sort of snake it was. He replied that the snake was a nasty breed but not poisonous. The snake then morphed into a different snake & I asked the old man what breed this snake was, again he replied telling me the breed & that it was not posinious. The snake morphed again several times and I kept repeating the same conversation with the old man each time he described the breed. The final time it morphed into a large and very poisonous brown snake with lots of teeth, the old man told me that I should be wearing gloves for protection with this snake..this snake started to move & expose a mouth full off teeth at which point I woke up pretty startled.

  • Amber McMurray-Stanley

I was surrounded by many snakes all of them striking at me with really bright vivid colors. The snake that stood out the most was the bright green one with horns, and feather like skin. He was massive with huge fangs and seemed to be beckoning to me. I was attempting to run from them and fight them off, but was unable to do this successfully it was like I was trapped with them everywhere and them coiling around me. I woke up scared, but also felt like I was given the answer to something I don’t quite understand. Any suggestions on what this means would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mary

I had a dream about a rattlesnake in my house. Slithering under clutter. My son and I couldn’t find him so we packed clothes and left the house…

  • Chelly

Today I have dreamt of a snake, I was in a gloomy looking environment and I was heading to a wooded home going up the stairs I had seen a huge long snake around the area so I was being cautious and as I stepped upstairs I encounter the snake face to face at eye level on one of the stairs and quickly struck at me but my reaction was so quick I was able to catch the snake by it’s head. From there I wanted to get rid of the snake but had to go all around the house since it’s body was extremely long and wrapped around the entire house. I can’t remember much after that but woke up curious as to what that dream might mean, can anyone help me translate it?

    • Leighla

      This is what I’m thinking:
There’s something in your life…. a person or problem or anxiety that is so huge that you have a hard time getting rid of it. But you are getting a handle on it because you managed to grab the snake before it bit you…. you have the “problem” in hand, but you just are having a hard time knowing how to get rid of it.  From another angle it could represent something you are beginning to find out….. about a person or problem or situation…. and you have the upper-hand because it looked you straight in the eyes and tried to bite you but you stopped it, but your looking deeper into the situation or realizes it is deeper than you thought (you had to go all around the house to discover how long it was).

  • A.L

This has happened to me twice now.

i have a dream that im at home and i climb out the window. i am standing on hard, dry, dirty grounds that is near a muddy water area. its not that big but there is a lot of small skinny brown, black snakes around. nothing is happening and i am not being harmed. i then notice a huge anaconda snake but i cant seem to find its head. i start to freak out and all those small snakes start to come after me. as i am climbing back up the window, the snakes try coming in through the window. once i close it the stay there but then leave.

can anyone please explain to mean the meaning behind this because i have had the same dream twice. if you know anything please tell me. thanks for listening to my story.

    • Leighla

That sounds like the little snakes represent small problems or anxieties in your life, and the big giant anaconda is a huge problem… so big to you that you can’t tell where it began (you couldn’t see the snake’s head. And those other, smaller worries don’t bother you until you freak out about the big one..

  • Vishala

Hello team, I dreamt about a light yellowish and greenish bright snake laying eggs and me rescing it. It was nt scary but I want to know the interpretation of it. And it was early in morning… please help..

  • Sherry Wortelboer

I dreampt about shootingsnakes in a garden, my husband was helping me. Interpet this for me please.

    • Leighla

Sherry…. this made me think of the Garden of Eden, and the devil who came there in the form of a serpent…. AKA snake…. to tempt Adam and Eve into sin. Maybe the garden symbolizes your peace, happiness, etc., and the snakes represent something you feel is invading or threatening that, and you shooting them means your working on dealing with those threats or invaders.  Your husband helping you could mean you feel he is your ally and you are working on the problems together.

  • Mabel Dela Cruz

Last night I had a dream of taking a photo of 4 red snakes which are short about 8 inches long only. I positioned them on my lap one after another and I was wearing a red pants with a snake skin design. What does that mean?

  • kimica

Last night I had a dream that I was walking in the parks walking trail and when I came to the bridge on a small ditch I saw dead snakes but these snakes where intertwined 4-6 snake like they were mating ( they looked like hair braided together) but someone had shot their heads off (gun) there must have been 40 to 50 snakes laying on the ground died. I also saw a white guy kneeled down grabbing his chinbone cause he had been biting by a snake I assumed that they were the ones who had killed all the snakes, A women was with him assisting him and then they were gone. I backed away from this scene and walked back the way I had come from but heard (like over a radio) someone say ” we have some black racers coming out and then I woke up!

  • Vicki

I dreamed I was lost and had lost my direction.  Somehow I knew I had to go down a hilly slope and I was walking I noticed it was covered with huge rattlesnakes – everywhere!  It would have been hard to walk between them .  So in my mind I just flew over them to safety on some rocks and kept going until I found a hermy artist living in a rock dwelling.  Very strange indeed!

    • Leighla

It sounds like that could mean you have overcome something in real life or you are in the process of it.

  • Willow Rainn

I dreamt about a Black Mamba slithering into the mouth of another snake. It then preceded to eat the other snake’s insides before ripping a hole right below the head and slithering out.

  • Megan

So I have been dreaming about snakes for a couple of days now and its really scary. I dreamed I was at my old house and I saw a brown cobra and it lunged at my dog and I pulled my dog away and grabbed its head but some how it bit me and I left it go and the first thing in my mind is I have 10 minutes and I am dead but it was scary before because I felt dizzy, tired and like my body was burning and swelling up and I went to the vet with my dog cause my vet will be able to give me and my dog a injection for the poison but it didn’t bother him or my dad I was dying and it really felt like I was loosing life when I woke up I struggled abit because it felt so real

  • Jenny Hebert

Dream started off like this I was outside of my house the Black Mamba was inside I seen it through a sliding glass window door as I walked beside it was pissed and it was hissing and hitting and stricking the glass at me but I was trying to warn people to get out the house then my dream turned into another dream and I seen another snake which was a coral snake which my cousin and family members were playing with and then it disappeared inside the sofa pillows

    • Leighla

Do you feel your family is in danger of something or someone? You saw the snake in your house and warned everyone to get out, then saw them playing with a coral snake… which is poisonous…. which YOU knew but obviously they didn’t since they were playing with it.

  • Kelvin

I dreamt of a bright green colored snake propelling itself from a treetop towards me. I was standing by the edge of the old wooden tower.  I managed to avoid it as my .thoughts was that it will bite me but it didn’t. I grabbed it by its head in an attempt to avoid getting bitten. However, I actually released my grip on it and was talking to it. Every time it finishes talking I would grip by the jaws to avoid it from biting me. I know the snake wouldn’t bite me but I still grip it just in case.
